I have the following problem with my Mondeo: ONLY and ONLY in 2nd gear when driving at constant speed the car accelerates by itself for 1 or 2 seconds every 3 or 4 seconds. So it is absolutely impossible to drive it with constant speed in the second gear.
Posted February 6, 2013. Check the fuel filter seal, they're supposed to be replaced when the fuel filter is swapped on a major service but sometimes it doesn't get done. An old seal will be less pliant and tend to not re-seat properly resulting in air being sucked into the system and causing fuelling problems. Quote.

I do around 5k per year now and generally do not use it much during the week. In February 2006 the car would not start. The weather was cold and very frosty - temp around -4C overnight.
